IMDR was established in 1974 as a constituent unit of the Deccan Education Society. IMDR took over the MBA programs of the MBA Centre of the University of Pune and the DBM programs, run in the BMCC (a sister institution) since 1968. The two-year full-time PGDM program of IMDR is considered equivalent to the full-time MBA program conducted by Universities, by the industry for the purpose of recruitment. All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) has approved IMDR’s PGDM program with an intake of 120 students. IMDR is a member of –

The Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) of IMDR is a two year full time program. The MBA program is divided into 4 semesters, each of approximately 16 weeks. Classes are usually held from 9 am to 5 pm providing students a corporate lifestyle experience. The first two semesters are followed by an 8 week internship in a business organization which provide MBA students a view to the challenges and environment in corporate.
IMDR MBA program prepares students to be down-to-earth performers, who continuously learn from experience and develop into thoughtful and sensitive professionals, so that the IMDR MBA students participate and influence organizational processes in an enlightened manner. The unique design of this MBA program is based on the Instructional Systems Design Methodology, which aims at integrating different disciplines to make Management an enriching field of thoughtful practice.
IMDR emphasizes self-study throughout the MBA program. Hence, besides classroom learning, there are assignments, case study sessions and field studies, in which MBA students’ ACTIVE participation is expected. IMDR follows a strict adherence to the Minimum Attendance Norm, which is 80%, the remaining 20% being allowed for personal exigencies, sickness, etc.
