IMI Delhi – Live your dreams

By   /   September 17, 2013  /   No Comments

Situated in the heart of Qutab Institutional Area in New Delhi, India, International Management Institute (IMI) was established in 1981. IMI is India’s first corporate sponsored Business School with sponsorship from elite corporate houses. It is one amongst the seven premier Business Schools in South Asia to receive the SAQs accreditation in 2009. Dr. Pritam Singh took over the reins of IMI as its Director General last year. He, the much respected management Guru, has devoted his life teaching the development of management education in India and abroad. His distinguished services were acknowledged by the country when the President of India conferred him with the prestigious ‘Padam Shri’.
The Institute encourages students to take student driven academic/professional initiatives to complement their class room learning with practical aspects of the real business world. These activities range from organizing special events focusing on current affairs to carefully planned symposia and lectures that enrich the participants’ professional, academic and extra-curricular interests. However, life at IMI is not all about studies but a plethora of other activities and religiously celebrating all festivals from Diwali to Eid to celebrating birthdays in IMI style. The student community of IMI Delhi organizes a management and cultural festival — CONVENTUS, which is the converging point of the industry experts across business disciplines and management leaders of contemporary India. The event includes various summits in the world of finance, marketing, operations, HR, economics and entrepreneurship. It promotes industry interface and witnesses eminent personalities enlightening the students with their experiences.
Conventus is concluded by ‘Kritva’, the annual management and cultural fest at IMI with pan-India participation for the ultimate carnival that showcases the talent and versatility of the youth. The amalgamation of events at Kritva will force you to push your boundaries, get out of your comfort zone and fork out the best you have got. It brings to you evenings you tap your feet to and jive along, technicalities you would crave to learn and imply, tasks you would want to do day in and day out and many more things to discover and challenge yourself with. IMI conducts E- TNT, an event to provide a platform to the young entrepreneurs to get a real time experience at entrepreneurship. The purpose is also to provide a platform for the students to practice the classroom concepts of Marketing, Strategic Planning, Principles of Management and Accounting in the real arena.
E-TNT sought to ‘learning by doing’ by putting the students into their own ventures. Several stalls are set up for auction and the participating teams have to bid for them. Each of the stalls comes up with unique ideas like selling food, customized t-shirts and conducting games. Last year, the event had a footfall of over 500 students. The in between super cool contests and music of “dhol” made it a fun-filled and refreshing event.
One place that needs a special mention is the night canteen at IMI Hostel, (11 p.m to 5 a.m) which is always abuzz with the chitter chatter of students and acts as a perfect place to let go off the day’s stress. This is the place where the cake-smashing ceremonies, birthday bumps and endless discussions take place over maggi and coffee. IMI, in its endeavour to make its students socially responsible runs ‘Jagriti-The social Cell of IMI’ which organizes such events as Blanket Donation Drive. Last year a team from IMI performed a street play in FMS, Delhi to show a connection between drug abuse and sexual assault through their play, Amavasya.
