MBA no longer under AICTE

By   /   May 4, 2013  /   6 Comments

All colleges which are affiliated to a university are no more obligated to take a permission from the AICTE to run a separate course of MBA, the honorable Supreme Court has held. The Supreme Court has declared in the recent order that AICTE has no authority to issue any sanctions, instead AICTE can play the role as an advisory.

AICTE chairman has declared that a new petition will be filed for reviewing the order. The Supreme Court said that the role of the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) is only advisory, recommendatory and one of providing guidance and has no authority of empowering itself to issue orders and sanctions by itself. MBA is not a technical course hence AICTE can only provide its recommendations to UGC for the implementation.

This would enable many colleges to start and run MBA courses if they are affiliated with Universities without the requirements of any permission from AICTE.
